Concluding the training program in carpet weaving / Socotra Archipelago Governorate
Within the activities of the USAID-funded Economic Recovery and Livelihoods Program (ERLP), and in partnership with the Hadhramout Foundation - Human Development, the Socotra carpet weaving training program was concluded on Sunday, July 30, 2023.
The training aimed to build the capacities and professional skills of 10 women and girls in weaving the Socotra carpets, and was implemented through the Socotra Foundation for Cultural and Natural Heritage.
At the closing ceremony, several speeches praised the project objectives to preserve the Socotra carpet and the methods used in weaving, and promoting it internationally as a local heritage.
The training certificates and weaving kits were distributed to the participants to ensure that they master the Socotra carpet weaving and work to empower their livelihood.
