Why don't you reach your highest concentration while studying?

Why don't you reach your highest concentration while studying?

So, you have set a schedule for your study of your homework or for browsing the Internet, for example. You set your priorities and what you want to focus on. Today is your first day with study, you have no obligations, and everything is perfect. But when you open the educational content you want to remember, whether it's a book, a video, a note, etc., you find yourself bored after a short while or open something that will distract you from studying, and then end up with the end of the day without doing anything! Or you sit for a very long time throughout the day to study, and be surprised at the end of the day that you did not collect as much as you want and the quality you want.

In this article, we give you a set of tools to help you understand why you are not focused and how to reach the highest concentration.

Is it because you do not sit to study for long enough?

First, you need to determine whether the problem is on sitting for enough time to study or not. You can do this by using a history of activities.

The Activity Log is an evaluation and documentation tool designed to track and measure whether or not you are properly taking advantage of your study time. You can follow these steps:

Documentation and follow-up phase:

Select where you will store your information. This place can have a table on your computer using any software. This place may be a notebook for notes to which you have allocated a portion of the activity log. You can find a record of activities for each article, or a record of activities in general.

Set the goal of the study, and it should be realistic and specific. For example, the goal of my study of this subject is to learn this unit or group of lessons in about a week.

A class is started when you start studying. When you finish studying even if you are comfortable or doing something, document the time you have spent for studying, the subject of the study, and any observations you have on this lesson. All this is done in about 30 seconds at the latest.

Evaluation phase:

Evaluate the time you spent for studying. Is it enough? Or should you spend more time? If you think you have made a great effort and time to study, so what is the cause in your opinion? Do you think there are many confused things? If "yes" what are they?

Evaluate the topics you have studied, is there any repetition in these subjects? Is this repetition deliberate or do you avoid studying more difficult subjects?

When you check your notes, is there anything you should pay attention to? What is it?

Why cannot I study for a long time?

In fact, it is very rare to study continuously for a long time. If you try to somehow push yourself to study longer with inadequate rest, you will not be able to study longer.

For example, if you use a computer or a mobile phone for a long time, the device will become slower because you are using its resources. After a while, it may stop responding to you. Even if you press many buttons and do more commands, the device will not respond to you.

The solution here is to restart the computer again or recharge the battery, for example. So it's our limited mental resources as human beings. When we focus too much, we consume many of our mental resources, and we have to recharge these resources for a while by resting them. If you press yourself and try to study more, you will not get any result. What we talked about is a simplification of attention restoration theory.

Positive comfort

So, you should relax your mindset from time to time, but what comfort is the most effective? There are two types of rest: negative and positive.

Negative comfort is where you think you are relaxing yourself from the effort of study while you are running your mental abilities without your knowledge. For example: Browse social networking sites such as Facebook, YouTube, or news sites. When you review the news you interact with the news and deal with the information in one way or another. Another example is playing video games, where there is a lot of thinking in these processes, which means that you consume your mental resources during the game.

Positive comfort is where you relax yourself from the effort of studying and do not think about anything else. One example of positive comfort is exercise, walking, or running. Another example is sleep. And another example is meditation and worship. All these are to give an example, but not to exclude other possibilities. You should evaluate by yourself, so which one do you prefer?
